C++ Starter Privacy Policy
C++ Starter is provided by Dozen Network Technology Co., Ltd. (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We value the security of personal information and source code. This policy explains how the current release handles data and the rights available to you.
1. How the current release handles data
No app account, advertising, push notifications, cloud sync, remote compilation, or cloud backup is provided. Code editing, compilation, and execution happen on the current device. The app connects to the internet to retrieve update policies, query App Store version information, and complete or restore purchases through Apple StoreKit.
The following remains only in the app’s local data on the current device:
- Project names, project identifiers, and
main.cppsource code; - Preset standard input, compilation results, and program output;
- Project creation, update, recent-open, and deleted status;
- Course exercise code, progress, and completion status; and
- Purchase entitlement status, skipped suggested-update versions, and other settings required for app functionality.
We do not upload source code, standard input, compilation results, program output, project content, or course progress to our servers. Local data may not be recoverable after uninstalling the app, clearing its data, changing devices, or a device failure.
2. Local compilation and execution
On iPhone and iPad, C++ Starter uses bundled Clang, LLD, libc++, a WASI sysroot, and a WebAssembly runtime. Toolchain resources are read from the installed app and are not downloaded at runtime.
On Mac, C++ Starter uses the Clang compiler provided by the system. Source code, standard input, compiler output, and program output are processed on the current device and are not sent to our servers.
3. Data we collect
When the app accesses our update-policy service or other online services, our servers receive and may retain necessary network request and operational logs. Under the App Store privacy-label categories, the current release collects:
3.1 Usage Data — Product Interaction
This may include when the app requests an update policy, the endpoint or resource requested, and request counts. We use this data to provide update notices and necessary version-management functionality, and may aggregate it manually or technically to understand traffic, feature-use trends, and service operation.
3.2 Diagnostics — Other Diagnostic Data
This may include response status, processing duration, error type, and other technical information related to update-service failures. We use this data to maintain service stability, troubleshoot problems, assess error and service-quality trends, and take necessary security and improvement measures.
3.3 Other Data — Other Data Types
This may include network IP address, request time, User-Agent, client or networking-component name and version, and other logs needed for network security and service operation. We use this data to provide online functionality, analyze service use and operation, identify abnormal access or abuse, protect network and data security, retain logs required by applicable law, and respond to lawful requests from competent authorities.
IP addresses, timestamps, and request records may together be associated with a particular device, network source, or activity. We therefore treat Product Interaction, Other Diagnostic Data, and Other Data Types as data that may be linked to your identity. The current release does not require a name, phone number, email address, or app account. We do not use this data for advertising profiles or tracking across apps or websites.
4. Purposes of processing
We process the data described above only as necessary for:
- App Functionality: providing update policies and version notices, service security, troubleshooting, and stable operation;
- Analytics: manually or technically measuring access, errors, and service-operation trends to understand feature use and improve products and services; and
- Other Purposes: detecting and handling attacks, abnormal access, or abuse; retaining necessary operational logs; meeting network and data-security obligations; and responding to lawful requests from police, courts, or other competent authorities.
We do not use this data for third-party advertising, developer advertising, or marketing. We do not track users across apps or websites, sell personal information, or provide it to data brokers.
5. Information the current release does not collect
C++ Starter does not require or actively collect:
- Project names, source code, preset standard input, compilation results, program output, or course exercise content;
- Name, phone number, email address, nickname, or profile photo;
- Precise or coarse location;
- Contacts, photos, videos, camera, microphone, or audio recordings;
- Payment-card or bank-account information;
- Advertising identifiers or device identifiers used for cross-app tracking; or
- Keyboard input entered in other apps.
6. Clipboard and keyboard input
C++ Starter exchanges code with the system clipboard only when you actively copy or paste. Keyboard input is used on the device to edit the current project, complete course exercises, or provide standard input to a running program. The app is not a keyboard extension, cannot read input from other apps, and does not upload editor input to us.
7. Open-source components, update service, and Apple services
C++ Starter includes LLVM/Clang, LLD, libc++, WASI, WebAssembly, and related open-source components for local compilation and execution. The current release does not include third-party advertising, behavioral analytics, crash-reporting, or push-notification SDKs.
The app uses HTTPS to access an update-policy endpoint that we operate using Supabase service components. These requests may generate the server logs described in Section 3.
Apple App Store, StoreKit, version-lookup services, and Apple system services may process information necessary for distribution, updates, purchases, crash diagnostics, and system-level functionality under Apple’s policies and your device settings. We do not upload StoreKit transaction credentials, payment information, or purchase history to our servers.
8. Support and website access
If you email support, we receive the address, message, and attachments you choose to send and use them only to answer questions, troubleshoot, maintain security, and meet legal obligations. Please remove unrelated personal information, credentials, and sensitive source code.
When you visit C++ Starter product, privacy, or support pages in a browser, the website server may also record IP address, request time, path, User-Agent, response status, and other necessary operational logs. Website logs are not linked to local projects, source code, or course progress.
9. Retention, security, and deletion
Local projects are protected by the device-security and app-sandbox features of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. You can delete projects in the app or remove local data by uninstalling it. Items in Deleted Projects remain on the device until permanently removed.
Server logs are retained only for the time needed for the functionality, analytics, security, and legal obligations described in this policy. We follow data-minimization principles while observing minimum retention periods required by applicable law or competent authorities. At the end of the applicable period, data is deleted or anonymized unless continued retention is legally required.
We use access controls, encrypted transport, permission management, and other reasonable safeguards. Only personnel authorized for their work responsibilities may access relevant logs. We may provide necessary data when required by law or by a lawful request from police, courts, or other competent authorities.
10. Your rights
You may request access, a copy, correction, deletion, restriction, or other rights available under applicable law. Because the current release has no account, we may need necessary information to verify a request and locate relevant records. Data required by law or necessary to meet legal obligations may not be deleted immediately, but will be handled when the required retention period ends.
11. Children
C++ Starter is a general programming-learning tool. Children under 14 should use it with a parent or guardian’s consent and guidance. The current release does not ask children to submit a name, contact details, or app account information.
12. Policy changes
We may update this policy when product features, laws, or operations change. If we add accounts, cloud sync, remote compilation, advertising, personalization, or other new processing, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy information before enabling those features and provide any notice or consent required by law.
