TypeWords Privacy Policy
TypeWords is provided by Dozen Network Technology Co., Ltd. (上海豆阵网络科技有限公司, “we” or “us”). We value personal information and data security. This policy explains how the current released version handles data and the rights available to you.
1. How the current version handles data
No registration or sign-in is required. The current version does not offer accounts, cross-device sync, cloud backup, advertising, or push notifications. Some word lists are installed with the app and work offline. The app also connects to the internet to fetch available word list and product catalogs and downloads content from our servers when you choose to download a list.
The following data is stored only on your current device:
- Your currently selected word list;
- Unit unlock and completion progress;
- Word list test scores and overall progress;
- Typing speed settings used to adjust the pace of practice;
- Downloaded word lists and other local settings needed for app functionality.
We do not upload this learning progress, scores, typing speed, or local settings as account data. This local data may not be recoverable after uninstalling the app, clearing app data, changing devices, or damage to the device.
2. Data we collect
When the app accesses online word list catalogs, product catalogs, word list files, or other online services, our servers receive and may retain necessary network request and operational logs. Under the App Store privacy label categories, the current version collects:
2.1 Usage Data — Product Interaction
This may include access times, requested endpoints and resources, and download records for word list catalogs, product catalogs, and word list files. This data supports app functionality and may be aggregated and analyzed manually or technically to understand traffic, downloads, feature usage trends, and service operation.
2.2 Diagnostics — Other Diagnostic Data
This may include network response status, processing time, error types, and other technical information related to API or download failures. It is used to maintain service stability, troubleshoot problems, assess error and service quality trends, and take necessary security and improvement measures.
2.3 Other Data
This may include IP addresses, request times, User-Agent, client or SDK names and versions, and other log information needed for network security and service operation. It is used to provide online functionality, analyze service usage and operation, identify anomalies or abuse, maintain network and data security, and meet applicable legal obligations concerning log retention, network security, and lawful assistance with investigations by competent authorities.
IP addresses, timestamps, and request records together may be linked to a particular device, network source, or access activity. We therefore treat the Product Interaction, Other Diagnostic Data, and Other Data described above as data that may be linked to the user’s identity. The current version does not require your name, phone number, email address, or an app account. We do not use this data for advertising profiles or cross-app tracking.
3. Purposes of data processing
We process the data above only to the extent necessary for:
- App functionality: online catalogs, word list downloads, service security, troubleshooting, and stable operation;
- Analytics: manually or technically aggregating access, download, error, and service operation trends to understand feature usage and improve products and services;
- Other purposes: identifying and handling network attacks, abnormal access, or abuse; retaining necessary network logs; fulfilling network and data security obligations; and lawfully assisting investigations by public security bodies or other competent authorities.
We do not use this data for third-party advertising, developer advertising, or marketing. We do not track users across apps or websites, sell personal information, or provide data to data brokers.
4. Information the current version does not collect
Using TypeWords does not require, or cause the app to actively collect:
- Names, phone numbers, email addresses, nicknames, or avatars;
- Precise or coarse location;
- Contacts, photos, videos, camera or microphone access, or recordings;
- Payment information such as payment card or bank account numbers;
- Advertising identifiers or device identifiers used for cross-app tracking;
- Keyboard input in other apps.
5. Keyboard input
Keystrokes during practice are used only on your device to check the current word and advance the game. TypeWords is not a system keyboard extension and cannot read what you type in other apps. The current version does not upload practice input to a server.
6. Third-party code and Apple system services
The app uses the Supabase Swift SDK to communicate with servers we operate, fetch online catalogs, and download word lists. Network requests may include the SDK name and version. The current version does not integrate separate third-party advertising, behavioral analytics, crash reporting, or push notification SDKs.
The Apple App Store, StoreKit, and Apple systems may process information necessary for app distribution, updates, in-app purchases, crash diagnostics, and system services. Apple is responsible for that processing under its privacy policy and your device settings. We do not upload StoreKit transaction credentials, payment information, or purchase records to our own servers.
7. Retention, security, and deletion
Local data is protected by the device security features provided by iOS. You can delete it by uninstalling the app or clearing app data. Deleted data may not be recoverable.
Server logs are retained only as long as needed for the functionality, analytics, security, and legal obligations described in this policy. We follow the principle of minimum necessary retention while meeting minimum log retention periods required by applicable laws or competent authorities. At the end of the retention period, we delete or anonymize the data, unless the law provides otherwise or continued retention is legally required.
We use access controls, encryption in transit, permission management, and other reasonable security measures. Only personnel authorized as necessary for their duties may access relevant logs. We may provide necessary data where required by law or upon lawful requests from public security bodies, judicial authorities, or other competent authorities.
8. Your rights
You may make requests under applicable law to access, copy, correct, delete, restrict processing of, or otherwise exercise rights over your personal information. Because the current version has no accounts, we may need information from you to verify your request and locate relevant records. We may not be able to immediately delete data that must legally be retained or is necessary to fulfill legal obligations; we will address it when the legally required or necessary retention period ends.
9. Protection of minors
TypeWords may be used as a general educational tool. Children under 14 should use it with a guardian’s consent and guidance. Other minors should also use it under a guardian’s guidance. The current version does not require children to submit names, contact details, or similar personal information.
10. Policy updates
We may update this policy as product features, laws, or operational needs change. If we introduce accounts, cloud sync, advertising, personalized recommendations, or other new data processing features, we will update the relevant explanations and App Store privacy information before enabling them and meet applicable notice or consent requirements.
